My Chemical Romance will be releasing their fourth studio album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, later this year [some sources say November 23rd]. This is a little teaser trailer for the album.
I don’t know about you all, but after going 3 years without new material from My Chemical Romance, I am so stoked. I have been a huge fan of them since about 7th grade and still listen to them on a regular basis. They are absolutely phenomenal live and their music has this sense of epic-ness about them.
I’d like to hear what everyone thinks about this upcoming album, leave your comments!
I am already really excited for September 21st, when Glee is set to return to FOX.
Anyways, I’ve compiled a list of the songs that Glee needs to cover:
-Man In The Mirror [Michael Jackson]
- Killing Me Softly [Roberta Flack]
-Seasons of Love [RENT]
-Cry Me A River [Justin Timberlake]. I have a feeling this will happen since JT is set to appear on the show at least once this season.
-Bohemian Rhapsody [Queen]
-The Scientist [Coldplay]
-Grace Kelly [MIKA]
-Say My Name [Destiny's Child]
-Don’t Look Back In Anger [Oasis]
Envy On The Coast [A.K.A the best band to ever grace the music industry] have decided to call it quits. Instead of trying to sum it all up, I’ll post what Ryan had to say about the situation:
To anyone and everyone who’s ever supported us:
The day has come to pull down that curtain down. Sal and Jer sat down with Brian and I about a week ago and informed us that they are leaving Envy on the Coast. They explained that they are no longer happy being a part of this, and there was nothing Brian and I could do or say to change that. Because Envy on the Coast was founded upon the musical and personal relationships between the four of us, Brian and I have decided that we would rather move forward rather than finding musicians to replace Sal and Jer.
I can’t say I’m all that shocked by this, nor am I upset. At some point in your life, you have to stop saying, “But I never expected this to happen to me!?” For me, that day came when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately, after she beat it, I took with me the knowledge that anything and everything can and will happen to you…and you should welcome those hurdles because they will make you stronger. At the end of the day, some marriages fail, some people win the lottery, and some people get struck by lightening. You can trust someone with every ounce of yourself, but a lot of men are the center of their own universe, and that’s something I’ve learned to cope with. I shouldn’t have said I wasn’t upset. There are aspects of this whole situation that have upset me, but there’s no use in dwelling on that when we have so much to be proud of.
When we started this band, we had no idea what we were doing, nor what we wanted to accomplish. Like most bands, we hopped in a van and vowed to stick together and figure it out along the way. In a very short time frame, we decided we wanted to preserve integrity, credibility, and put our art at the forefront above all else. We knew turning down certain opportunities would sometimes leave us broke and maybe regretful, for some of us, but we knew it wasn’t within our capability to compromise. Sure, we did a lot of things we were apprehensive about at first, but on ‘Lowcountry’, our most recent effort, I can proudly say we made something that was 100% us. We played ball for a few years, but not on that record; we did what we wanted. We wrote the songs we wanted to write, the way wanted to write them. We shot the video we wanted with the creative individuals who we entrusted to do it with. We did it all our way. I don’t care how many copies it sold, because I’ve got a lot of acquaintances who have sold a shit-ton more records than I may ever sell, but they don’t sleep as well as I do at night.
I’ve toured with the flavors of the week. I’ve watched teenagers place “band dudes” up on pedestals, not for the music they make, but for the aura they omit. I’ve seen the looks in our fans eyes. I know that this little band meant something to you. I know that all of our sacrifice, all of our struggle, and all of our hard work was worth it. I know that we didn’t have to tweet what the fuck we were doing every hour of the day in order to stay connected with our fans. They stayed connected to us through our music, regardless of where we were or what we were doing. You understood. You got it.
Brian and I decided a long time ago that we wanted to be artists. That can mean a lot of things, but to us it just means we want to keep making art and music together. And that’s what we plan on doing. I doubt anyone’s mentally ready to swallow “what’s next” yet, so we’ll just leave it at that for now. In the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing our three final shows and together, we will celebrate the the death of something beautiful. Thank you all for being a part of this.
-Ryan
I am very, very, very sad to see this band go. I have been a huge fan since the end of my sophomore year in high school, and I cannot express how amazing this band was/is. I will never forget the live shows, or the people I met. I know that this isn’t the last we’ll see of some of the members, and I definitely know that Envy On The Coast will always have a place in my heart, and on my iPod.
If You Really Knew Me is a new reality TV series on MTV that premieres on July 20th, 2010. If you haven’t seen the previews for it yet, here is what the show is all about:
“Each episode features a different high school from across the country, following five students from different cliques for a 24-hour period as they reveal who they really are to their peers. Billed as a reality version of THE BREAKFAST CLUB, this series documents students as they go through a Challenge Day that breaks down their walls and completely changes the way they view their school and each other.” Source
I really like the concept of this show. It’s reminiscent of Oprah’s “Challenge Day” she held a few years ago, but it is on MTV so I’m sure it’ll be a lot more dramatic. Anyways, I encourage you all to watch this show when it airs, I think we could all learn something.
I have a mere two day of classes left [along with 2 days of finals] until summer. Safe to say I am very excited to be done with school, it’s been a busy year.
I’ve been thinking a lot about summer, and I’ve come up with a tentative list of things I would like to do.
I think I’ll update this as the summer progresses to see what I’ve accomplished.
Some of these are hopes/wishes/want-to’s, while others are already planned.
1. Go geocaching.
2. Go rock climbing. As in, rocking climbing at a rec center.
3. Camping in July with family [plus Mira and Alyce].
4. Get a job.
5. Get my tragus and/or rook [or forward helix] pierced. 6. Lion King in June! 7. The Audition in Seattle in July. [They dropped off the Seattle date, boo].
8. Camp out in the backyard.
9. Start Amali.
10. Leave random post-it notes around the city/in stores with messages such as: “You are loved”, “Smile”, etc…
11. Watch the sunset from the middle of nowhere.
12. Go to a psychic.
13. Spend a day faking a British accent.
14. Go to the drive-in theater.
15. Fugitive.
16. Watch a ton of movies–I have an ongoing list.
17. Abandon Facebook/Twitter/Myspace/E-mail/Formspring for a month.
18. Go phone-less for a week, or longer.
19. Take a trip to the beach.
20. Go to a bunch of garage sales.
21. Have a water balloon fight.
22. Warped Tour.
23. Go to Vancouver, BC.
24. Go to a bunch of shows.
25. Lay outside and watch the stars with someone.
26. Bumbershoot [if I dig the line-up].
27. Get a massage.
28. Start a journal and document each day of the summer.
29. Go to the Oregon State Fair. Also, go on the slingshot bungee ride. 30. Go on a hike.
I feel like this quarter went by extremely fast, but I’m not complaining.
I have two finals today, Psychology and Italian, and then tomorrow all I have to do is turn in a paper and watch a debate.
It’s over.
I won’t spoil anything, but I’ll say this: I’m not sure how I feel about the finale quite yet.
I think I’m going to have to read around and get a full explanation on it.
Anyways, fantastic show, and potentially a fantastic finale.
“Music business is an oxymoron. Music is art, it isn’t a fucking business”.
–Thomas Erak, The Fall of Troy.
I just got back from a show: A Tale Through Audio, Twin Atlantic, Envy On The Coast, and The Fall of Troy. Not only did all the bands kill it, but Thomas of Fall of Troy had some wise words.
“Get off your couch, your chair, your ass, wherever your computer is, and go out and fucking listen to live music”.
I can agree to both of these. More so the latter because you truly do not know music/a good time until you’ve seen your favorite bands live. It’s the more insane feeling in the world. Nothing, at all, beats standing in a hot room with 100+ people who share your taste in music. It’s overwhelming.
Anyways, I just wanted to share some Thomas genius with you all.
I’d have to say that this show was the best show I’ve been to in a LONG time. Everyone on that stage has so much passion. Plus, it was really nice seeing The Fall of Troy on their last tour.
They all killed it.
